Laser Surgery

Since 2005, Feeder Creek Veterinary Services has been using a surgical laser for many of the surgeries we perform. We use a surgical CO2 laser that produces a highly focused beam of light that can be used to make incisions normally made with a scalpel. Our surgeons have been so impressed with the precision and performance of the laser that we have made it mandatory for all cat de-claw procedures. It is offered as an option for all other routine surgical procedures.

Laser surgery offers a number of advantages for your pet:

  • Less Pain- Laser energy seals nerve endings, which decrease the pain your pet feels compared to a scalpel cut.
  • Less Bleeding- Laser seals small blood vessels. This not only decreases the amount of blood lost during surgery but also allows improved precision, which decreases the amount of trauma to surrounding tissue.
  • Less Swelling- Trauma to surrounding tissues leads to swelling. Laser energy does not crush, bruise, or tear tissue thereby decreasing swelling at the site of surgery.

This leads to quicker recoveries with less discomfort and faster healing for your pet.
